The other day I was thinking about how any vehicle can have a dedicated group of people who loves that specific make and model. There are people who LOVE the Pontiac Aztec, for instance. I also love the Saturn Sky, and the Pontiac Solstice. I have just always thought they were really neat cars! Turns out, there are many people out there that love these vehicles, and they have done something really neat with the ‘Kappa” which was the platform name that General Motors bestowed upon them. There is a yearly event called NASSAM (North American Solstice & Sky Annual Meet) that is held all around the country. The 2018 NASSAM event was held in Colorado, the 2019 event was in Corning NY, and the 2020 Event was scheduled for Rapid City SD (which appears to be the location for 2022), so these guys area really dedicated to driving their cars! This year though, they are coming to our great state to see what we have to offer…. I’m not going to lie, part of me wants to buy a Solstice simply to participate in this event!

This event is billed as: Kappas in “The Mitten,” and it runs a full week, with a loaded schedule. There are meet and greets, scheduled runs, and most days ends with a bonfire. As you would expect from a national meet, there is a banquet on Friday, along with a silent auction I have no doubt it’s going to be something to see.

The scheduled runs take you though some of our state’s most beautiful areas, across the northern lower peninsula, across the Mighty Mac, and hitting areas like the Soo Locks, Tahquamenon Falls, Whitefish Point and more.
And what makes this better? It’s charitable. They are proudly supporting the Gary Sinise Foundation. More information on this fantastic foundation can be found here: https://www.garysinisefoundation.org/

They have the entire event up on their website: nassam2021.com and I encourage you to check it out! And if you happen to be a fan of, or own one of these cars, make this a must for this season’s car events.
